About Us
In 1999, The Mater and Children's Hospital Development Ltd was established as a joint initiative of the Sisters of Charity and the Sisters of Mercy to oversee the development of the Mater and Children's Hospital campus in Dublin. MCO Projects was appointed as Project Directors and providers of Executive Services with Jacobs Engineering Ireland Ltd appointed as Technical Advisers.

MCHD successfully brought the project to readiness for construction tender by September 2005.

Following the commissioning of an independent review in 2006 and the resulting report Children's Health First, the Health Service Executive set about planning for one national paediatric hospital, located beside an adult teaching hospital. A Joint HSE / Department of Health and Children Task Group was established to progress the recommendations of Children's Health First, and, in particular, to advise on the best location for the proposed new hospital. The Report of the Joint HSE / DoHC Task Group recommended that the new national paediatric hospital should be built on the site of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. This will be a separate development to the Mater Campus Hospital Development.
